Standard and narrow gauge in Portugal


All photos on this site were taken by Michael Grieves. We start with a few pictures of the standard gauge operation, taken in 1981.

We continue with three pictures taken in 1981 at the narrow-gauge railway "Linha do Tâmega" (1000 mm)

Picture 5: The Arco de Baúlhe station was the terminus of the narrow-gauge railway "Linha do Tâmega".


The next five pictures were taken in 1970, when steam operation was still predominant on the Portuguese 1000 mm narrow-gauge railways.
